Protests

Thun, Switzerland – Since 9:30am on Tuesday 25th May, activists have been protesting against the purchase of war drones from the Israeli company Elbit Systems. The activists have blocked the entrance to one of Switzerland's biggest military bases, where members of the Swiss parliament planned to watch the Hermes 900 drone.

At least 22 people have been seriously injured during the Nakba protests that have been organized all over the West Bank by the Higher Committee to Commemorate the Nakba, which includes various political forces and grassroots forces, including Stop the Wall. 67 years after the start of the Nakba when 700 thousand Palestinians where ethnically cleansed from their land, the catastrophe for the Palestinian people is ongoing.

All the neighborhood are present. The street is embellished with flags and banners. Family, friends, and neighbors are gathered. They are waiting for a hero.

The Gaza connection

Wandering Raven has published an excellent summary of the information publicly available on the use of drones – in particular Elbit drones Hermes 450 and Hermes 900 – during the Gaza massacre this July/August. The testimonies about use and development of drones include the Israeli defense minister, military commanders and news outlets.

In Jerusalem, the daily confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces continued in the old city, Shu’fat, Mount of Olives, Silwan, Al Isawiya, Beit Hanina, Athouri, Shu’fat refugee camp, Sur Baher and Jabal Al Mukaber,

6 Palestinians have been killed and 900 arrested in Jerusalem since July this year. Only during November, 111 of the people have been arrested in Jerusalem and thousands injured.

The Israeli policies to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian Bedouin communities from the Jordan Valley and the area east of Jerusalem include the construction of three apartheid-style townships. Once expelled, these communities should be relocated there. However, in the last weeks Palestinian campaigners and Bedouin communities have made great advances to obstruct this plan: They have directly targeted the companies involved in the construction of the two townships currently being developed.

Since the beginning of the massacre in Gaza on July 7th 2014, all eyes of the international media are focused on this Israeli military aggression. But also in the West Bank resistance and repression has increased: the clashes between Palestinian activists and the Israeli military on the checkpoints have escalated during this time. Palestinians in the West Bank mobilized in solidarity with the people in Gaza in daily acts of resistance while the Israeli military took advantage of the focus on Gaza to kill, repress, arrest and further expand their settlements.

Linah Alsaafin, from Electronic Intifada - US President Barack Obama arrived in Ramallah by helicopter yesterday and gave yet another insipid speech. The Palestinian Authority’s security forces, collaborating with US forces, designated a huge security perimeter with the PA compound — the Muqataa — in the middle. Some of the city’s busiest streets were closed off and inaccessible to those not living there.

Palestinian youth groups of "Palestinians For Dignity" call to reject US President Obama's visit to the occupied Palestinian territory expected between 20-22 March, and to demonstrate against the possible return to negotiations.

Today, January 29 2013 the military court of the occupation forces had scheduled their second hearing since the arrest of the human rights defender and Stop the Wall youth coordinator Hassan Karajah.

Hassan once again was denied to see either his lawyer or his family and only after Hassan left the court room his lawyer was allowed to enter and to present his objection to the previous extension of Hassan´s detention. No decision was communicated today.

Hassan Karajah is currently held in the Jalameh Interrogation Center. He has been reportedly beaten by occupation forces and his detention has been extended for 12 days, without access to his lawyer.

hundreds of occupation forces raided the Bab Al Shams village, destroyed the tents and beat up the activists, who have set the tents in an attempt to stop the occupation seizer of the land to expand illegal nearby settlements in an area Israel refers to as E1.

Yesterday, Friday 11 January 2013, Palestinian activists sought to protect land under threat from Israeli settlements. Coordinated by the Palestinian Grassroots Anti Apartheid Wall And Settlements Campaign (Stop the Wall) and Popular Committees against the Wall, around 250 activists from all over the West Bank set up a village of 25 protest tents in the E1 Area close to East Jerusalem.
