The Israeli repression of the weekly protest against the Wall has resulted in the injury of Tarek Adnan Abo Rahma, 14 years old, who was shot in the foot by a teargas canister.
Along with international supporters, the people from Bilâin dedicated this weekâs protest against the Wall and the settlements once again to the commemoration of the 62nd anniversary of the Nakba.
The Participants in the march raised Palestinian flags and banners calling for the boycott of Israeli settlement products and others condemning the recent home demolitions in Jerusalem and the siege on Gaza. They further called for an end to the arrest campaign against anti-wall activists and the release of all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
The demonstrators first marched along the streets of the village chanting slogans against the occupation, the wall and the settlements. They highlighted that todayâs suffering of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation and apartheid is nothing else but an ongoing Nakba (catastrophe) aimed at killing, imprisoning and displacing the Palestinian people.
The march then headed towards the wall, where a large military force of the occupation army was barricaded behind concrete blocks positioned behind the wall. The Israeli military had closed off the gate in the Wall with razor wire. When the protesters tried to cross towards the land they owned behind the Wall, the army fired stun grenades, rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas at them and dispersed the protesters among the olive groves at the outskirts of the village.
This resulted in the injury of a disabled child called Tarek Adnan Abo Rahma (14 years), who was shot in the foot with a teargas canister and the arrest of three Israelis activists, including a journalist. Large areas of agricultural lands owned by Nasser Abu Rahme were set ablaze by the teargas canisters fired off at random by the Israeli military.
