Solidarity Protest Draws Hundreds in Santa Monica

Around 300 demonstrators converged in Santa Monica to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian National and International Call to Action for November 9 against the oppressive Israeli Apartheid Wall. Protestors built a tremendous mock Wall that was covered in compelling images of the Wall as well as facts, figures, maps and drawings. After several hours of information sharing, speakers and rallying – the mock Wall was brought to the ground in a tremendous show of solidarity against Israel’s Apartheid Wall.

Despite counter protest, the vocal and passionate group of demonstrators and speakers put out a strong call for justice as banners, flags and signs condemning the oppressive conditions of the Israeli Occupation and the Apartheid Wall waved for passers-by and fellow protestors. Information tables about various solidarity organizations were available for people to visit and gather news and materials.

The demonstration was organized by a coalition of organizations, under the title “Bring Down the Wall Committee”, and was sponsored by the Palestine Aid Society and Women in Black-Los Angeles and Palestine Aid Society and endorsed by: ANSWER Coalition, Café Intifada, the Coalition for World Peace, International Action Center, National Lawyers Guild, Palestinian American Congress, Palestine Solidarity Committee, the Union of Palestinian-American Women and The Writing Empowerment Project.
