***Aufruf der palästinensischen Zivilgesellschaft an die Weltöffentlichkeit*** Wie könnt ihr nur feiern? Die Gründung des Staates Israels vor nunmehr 60 Jahren war nichts anderes als Siedlerkolonialismus, durch den systematisch und gewaltsam mehr als 750.000 PalästinenserInnen aus ihrem Zuhause und von ihrem Land vertrieben wurden. Heute vor 60 Jahren plünderten zionistische Milizen und kriminelle Banden palästinensische Wohnhäuser und löschten mehr als 400 Dörfer und Städte von der Landkarte. Wie ist es vor dem eigenen Gewissen zu verantworten, dass diese menschliche Katastrophe auch noch gefeiert wird?
Israel hält nach wie vor palästinensisches Territorium und Staatsgebiet anderer arabischer Staaten militärisch besetzt und verletzt damit unzählige UN-Resolutionen. Israel setzt beharrlich und unverhohlen die Verletzung grundlegender Menschenrechte der PalästinenserInnen fort und bricht damit das Humanitäre Völkerrecht und Menschenrechtskonventionen. Die palästinensischen StaatsbürgerInnen Israels sind nach wie vor einem System institutionalisierter Diskriminierung unterworfen, das starke Ähnlichkeiten mit der Apartheid in Südafrika aufweist. Und Israel kommt damit davon, denn es genießt durch die bedingungslose und großzügige Unterstützung der USA und Europas auf wirtschaftlicher, diplomatischer, politischer und akademischer Ebene eine nie dagewesene Immunität. Angesichts dieser vielschichtigen Formen der Unterdrückung, die heute die israelische Wirklichkeit bestimmen, sehen wir jegliche Teilnahme jeder Art von Feierlichkeiten zur Gründung Israels als stillschweigende Zustimmung zur andauernden Enteignung und Entwurzelung der palästinensischen Flüchtlinge, zur fortgesetzten Militärbesatzung sowie zur Verschärfung des israelischen Apartheidregimes. Die Einladung Israels als “Ehrengast” zu den Buchmessen von Turin und Paris, um nur zwei Beispiele zu nennen, stellt nicht nur einen vorsätzlichen Verrat an grundlegenden Menschenrechtsprinzipien dar, wie sie auch im Recht der Europäischen Union verankert sind, sondern auch einen bewussten Versuch, israelische Kriegsverbrechen gegen AraberInnen zu vertuschen, insbesondere jene, die in den Kriegen gegen den Libanon verübt wurden sowie mit dem schleichenden Genozid, der gegen eineinhalb Millionen PalästinenserInnen, die im Gazastreifen unter Kollektivbestrafung stehen, andauert. Kurz gesagt: Israels 60. Gründungstag zu feiern, kommt einem Freudentanz auf palästinensischen Gräbern gleich.
