In July 2004, the International Court of Justice
confirmed what had already been obvious to much of the world: the Apartheid Wall being built by Israel
is in complete violation of international law.
Don’t let the ICJ decision follow the path of the
countless UN Resolutions that have gone unattended, and the hundreds of
international reports that have condemned the racist Israeli Apartheid Wall and
Occupation without stopping it!
-
Launch, promote & coordinate consumer boycotts on goods “Made by Israeli Apartheid”!
- Mobilize on the local level to involve institutions,
community networks, activists & public personalities in the campaign to
spread the academic, cultural and sports boycott on Israeli Apartheid!
-
Insist that companies and institutions
divest/disinvest from Israeli Apartheid!
-
Pressure your governments & lobby your
representatives to impose sanctions and enforce an arms embargo on Israeli
Apartheid as a tool to implement the ICJ decision!
-
Provide Research and Information
An important part of successful boycott, divestment and sanctions
campaigns is updated and precise information accessible to everyone. Companies
and governments are generally not interested in publicizing their links to
criminal states. It is the task of activists and movements to gather the
necessary information for campaigns against Israeli Apartheid and Occupation,
and to share information with other activists and groups to ensure successful
campaigns.
This section of our website
is designed to support these efforts. You will find links to selected
boycott / divestment campaigns and information sites below. If
you are running a campaign or a website, or if you have done or planning to do
your own research about these issues, please contact us at mobilize@stopthewall.org.
Coordination of the local efforts and information sharing is crucial to ensure
the strengthening and success of the movement to isolate Israeli apartheid!
-
Boycott Israeli Goods
Don’t buy “Made by Israeli Apartheid”! Make it a point not to buy Israeli goods, and ask
stores to stop supporting Israeli Occupation and Apartheid and to change the
brand of their merchandise. Ask your friends and colleagues to join the boycott
of Israeli Occupation and Apartheid. It depends on each of us to make the
boycott grow and become more effective – it doesn’t cost time or money, but it
can be an important step towards the fall of the Apartheid Wall and the end of
Israeli Apartheid.
The Campaign has made activist resources
available that will help you to raise awareness.
To know more about the products and brands to boycott see the list of websites below.
-
PrepareInformation Tables and Stalls
Awareness-raising in your area is important. Inform the public about the suffering and struggle of the
Palestinian people, the reality of Israeli Occupation and Apartheid, and the
construction of the Wall, and unmask Israel’s real face in your streets.
Information Stalls can be put up everywhere – at universities, in market places, and at all kinds of
gatherings. It is important to remember that the struggle against racism,
colonialism, and occupation is not just an issue for “specialists.” For info
and activist material for your info stall see our
“activist resources”.
-
Organize Picket Lines
Picket lines and leafleting in front of stores and shopping malls that are known for
selling Israeli goods is a simple but effective way of promoting the boycott.
You are able to inform the public, raise awareness and, at the same time,
pressure the management of the stores to stop selling Israeli goods.
-
Target Your Media
In most of the mainstream media it is not easy to obtain space to get your message across.
Work with independent and local media, and approach publications of
organizations and those intended for specific target groups that might be more
sensitive to the issue. Write letters to the editor and opinion-editorial
articles.
-
Organize Divestment Campaigns
You can organize divestment campaigns almost everywhere. Support for Israeli Occupation
and Apartheid through ties with Israel or companies that are overtly supporting Zionism is
still world wide. All that is necessary is some information gathering about the investments and the trade
of the universities, institutions, and companies in your area (for a start, see
the list of links below).
Raise awareness about Israeli Apartheid and the complicity of these universities,
institutions, and companies in supporting Israeli crimes and the interests of
Israeli Apartheid world wide. Create networks of supporters of the call for
divestment in order to mount pressure until the targeted institutions or
companies divest. There are already many divestment campaigns against various
multinationals in action, so you might want to coordinate with them if you have
a branch in your area.
-
Campaign for Academic, Cultural, and Sports Boycotts
Make sure that institutions, universities, and other organisations are not legitimising
Israeli Apartheid through “business as usual.” Pressure them to not allow
invitations and cooperation with Israeli academics, cultural institutions, and
sports clubs as long as Israeli Occupation and Apartheid persist.
-
Pressure for Sanctions
Sanctions are originally a governmental and intergovernmental means to enforce
international law and resolutions. However, sanctions have been more often used
by developed countries to oppress other countries and their people; they have
seldom been implemented as a means to stop the oppression of a people (as they
were, for example, against Apartheid South Africa).
Ask your representatives and governments to implement sanctions in cases where
they do not kill but stop the killing, where they are not part of colonial
warfare but a way to stop colonial occupation.
Apartheid Israel cannot continue to neglect international law and resolutions: the decision of the
International Court of Justice—a decision against the Apartheid Wall, against
Israeli Occupation, and against colonial settlement policies—needs to be
implemented immediately!
The links below are from a selected list of initiatives that have been in contact with the Campaign.
We are aware that many other groups and initiatives all over the world are sharing the call to Isolate Israel
and would like to encourage you to get in contact with us. If you have your own
initiative, website or research, please contact us at: mobilize@stopthewall.org.
International Coordination:
Global Movement against Israeli Apartheid
This movement was launched during the Conference of the International Anti-War and Anti-Globalization
Movement held in Beirut on September 17-19, 2004.
The Global Movement against Israeli Apartheid seeks to denounce, resist, and end Israeli Apartheid. Many of
the different world wide campaigns that are addressing Israeli policies of
occupation, colonial expansionism, expulsion of the Palestinian people,
massacres and assassinations, and the attempt to destroy Palestinian society find
space and are coordinated within this movement. The common aim is to isolate
Apartheid Israel internationally through boycott, divestment, and sanctions on all levels, to
exert a necessary pressure in order to support the Palestinian people’s
struggle until it reaches liberation and justice.
