Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign Fact Sheet:
Apartheid in Palestine—Definition, History up
to the Wall, and Tool for Mobilization
This
fact sheet highlights the meaning of the term “Apartheid”, its different
oppressive apparatus, and how Apartheid continues to take place in Palestine
from its roots in a colonialist and racist project to today’s Apartheid Wall.
The fact sheet looks at the policies of suppression, segregation, labour
exploitation, expulsion, land control, humiliation and murder enacted by the
Occupation that are: Apartheid in Palestine.
The Wall is today the most evident expression of Israel’s Apartheid nature,
aiming to complete the Bantustanization of Palestine and the Palestinian
people. Apartheid is found in laws (de jure) and in the implementation of its
goals on various levels (de facto), including those mechanisms used by the
Occupation to justify Apartheid practices while avoiding its legalization.
This fact sheet focuses as well on the ties between the South African Apartheid
Regime and the Israeli Apartheid Regime, and emphasizes the lessons to be
learned from the successful solidarity movement that supported the South
African struggle against Apartheid.

Palestinians Under the
New Israeli "Disengagement Plan'"
This fact sheet
documents the appalling plan for Palestine that is shaping up behind Israeli
slogans of "disengagements," a comprehensive scheme for colonial
domination and conquest based on racial discrimination. It highlights the ways
in which four main construction projects—the building of new settlements and
the expansion of existing settlements; the construction of more settlers-only
"by-pass" road; the building of a system of bridges (for settlers)
and tunnels (for Palestinians); and the setting up of industrial zones that
will be sites for exploiting impoverished Palestinian labor—combine today with
the Apartheid Wall into a plan for the full Bantustanization of the Palestinian
people. The fact sheet includes three maps illustrating the destructive effects
of the so-called "disengagement" plan on all Palestinian life. It is
an important tool for informing others about the real face of Israeli Apartheid
and the real nature of these plans, and why they must be stopped now. DOWNLOAD THIS FACT SHEET IN ENGLISH [865K]
The Apartheid
Wall:
The Israeli Project for the Demise of Palestinian Life
Jamal Juma',
Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign
It was the timing with which Israel
began the construction of the Apartheid Wall in the northern West Bank in June
2002, together with the way this construction has proceeded, that made it clear
for the Palestinian people that this would turn out to be a massive Occupation
“project”. It was begun only two months after the so-called “incursion” by the
Occupation of the West Bank. The residents of Nablus and Jenin were still
searching for the bodies of their martyrs beneath the rubble of the houses
demolished by the Israeli military during the incursions when 200 bulldozers
started razing the land along a 145 KM stretch from Salem, north of Jenin, to
Qalqiliya where the Apartheid Wall would be built. [MORE]

Analysis,
PENGON/Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign
No doubt, expectations in Palestine - and among its
supporters - had been low in regards to the International Court of Justice
"Advisory Opinion." The Court, as the United Nations as a whole, was
expected to fall substantially short in its decision. With the continued
failure of the UN in relation to Palestinian rights and self-determination, the
decision or opinion was understood as predominantly public relations. With the
continued malleability of the law based on Israeli, US and European interest,
it was expected that the Court would take an even more conservative approach
than the General Assembly, which often time seeks to reflect popular
international sentiment in support of the Palestinian struggle. [MORE]

[…] BUILDING A BROAD ISRAEL
BOYCOTT-DIVESTMENT-SANCTIONS CAMPAIGN inspired by the model of the
South-African anti-apartheid campaign: aimed at public boycott (e.g. consumer
boycott of Israeli products, non-cooperation with Israeli initiatives in the
field of culture, education and sports), divestment (e.g. de-investment by
private companies and public institutions from Israeli institutions and/or
stocks and bonds) and pressuring governments to impose sanctions on Israel.

The
International Court of Justice Declares: THE WALL IS ILLEGAL!
Latest News,
PENGON/Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the
Hague, despite intense pressure from Israel, the US and EU Governments,
confirms what Palestinians and the world have known since the beginning of its
planning and construction - THE WALL IS ILLEGAL! The ICJ Advisory
Opinion clearly calls for a complete stop and reversal of the Wall. In response
to the ICJ opinion, the Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign is
calling for immediate action: Construction on the Wall must be stopped
immediately, all existing sections must be dismantled and compensation must be
offered to those who have suffered from its devastation. [MORE]
Call by Palestinian Civil Society for Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions
One year after the historic Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which found
Israel’s Wall built on occupied Palestinian territory to be illegal, Israel continues its construction of the
colonial Wall with total disregard to the Court’s decision. Thirty eight years into Israel’s occupation of
the Palestinian West Bank (including East Jerusalem), Gaza Strip and the Syrian Golan Heights, Israel
continues to expand Jewish colonies. It has unilaterally annexed occupied East Jerusalem and the
Golan Heights and is now de facto annexing large parts of the West Bank by means of the Wall.
Israel is also preparing - in the shadow of its planned redeployment from the Gaza Strip - to build and
expand colonies in the West Bank. Fifty seven years after the state of Israel was built mainly on land
ethnically cleansed of its Palestinian owners, a majority of Palestinians are refugees, most of whom
are stateless. Moreover, Israel's entrenched system of racial discrimination against its own Arab-
Palestinian citizens remains intact.
